Dave East teams up with producer V Don for his latest single.
Dave East is one of the hardest emcee’s right now. His descriptive lyrics and gritty flow bring vivid images of the streets to life when he raps. While it was only three weeks a go that he dropped his major label debut Paranoia: A True Story, he continues the theme with his latest single “BiPolar” proudced by V Don.
Dave East brings it back to some gritty production for a cut that was apparently left off his most recent album. While he showed a new side of himself with Paranoia by tackling some more mainstream type production, with “Bipolar” he attacks some of V Don’s more grittier east coast, underground production. V Don and East have previously worked together in the past for songs like “By Any Means” and “Cake”. The song sounds like it could’ve made it onto Kairi Chanel or one of his earlier mixtapes. He highlights his recent wealth on the hook while contrasting it on the verses with the street life he was once engulfed in.
The release of Paranoia has found East inching closer and closer into the mainstream. For his first major label effort, he found himself landing at number 9 on the Billboard 100 with 26K units moved within it’s first week. He made a significant mark with Paranoia: A True Story so it definitely seems like he’ll have something up his sleeve in the near future. While the project was only an extended play, it’s a good sneak peek at what he may deliver once he drops his full length album. He’s been steady dropping quality mixtapes over the past few years and has not only been able to prove himself by making incredible singles but has proven to be able to create a full body of work. While he’s currently on the road promoting Paranoia, we’re anxious to see what his next move will be after that.
